Located one block from the Pamlico River, this beautiful 1902 Victorian home, with its wide veranda and beautiful garden, provides the closest and most comfortable accommodations in Historic downtown Washington. Rest on a rocker looking at the garden.A two-block walk leads to shops, boat marina, restaurants, and the Turnage Theater. The Moss House is on the city's historic walking tour. Stroll the river walk to the Estuarium.

The Moss House is easy going with an eclectic coastal style mixed with antiques and original artwork. Four individually designed guest rooms, each with private bath. We offer you comfortable beds with extra pillows, high quality linens, central air, Cable TV, WIFI and ceiling fans. Two of our rooms offer a king bed and two offer a queen bed, several of the original mantles and tiled fireplaces are in guest rooms and common rooms. We do our best to be "green" including recycling,green cleaning products and quality low impact amenities.

The Moss House features a full breakfast, highlighted by Beckie's home baked goods and fresh fruit.We love to feature local produce in season from our farmers market.Some of our choices may include Orange French Toast,Spiced Oatmeal Pancakes, Fluffy Baked Eggs with Sweet Potato Hash or Moss House Apple /Sage Sausage. These hearty entrees, accented by our own Fair Trade Moss House Blend freshly ground coffee or a variety of teas,juices,seasonal fresh fruit, and baked goods will prepare you for a full day of fun or work.

Area Attractions and Activities:

The Moss House is listed in the Historic Register and is on the Washington Historic Walking Tour.We provide guides for you to use.

Washington is a waterway to the Atlantic Ocean and offers all the amenities of a coastal community. The City of Washington allows 48-hour free docking and slips for a fee with water and electricity, along Stewart Parkway's river walk. Sailing is a popular pastime here. You'll find several excellent marinas catering to boaters' needs.

Washington's activities include the North Carolina Estuarium, an educational center on the river ecosystem with a board walk through turtle ponds and other wildlife. Also just 15 minutes by car, plan to visit Goose Creek State Park, for hiking, picnics and swimming. We are 25 minutes from Historic Bath, the oldest town in NC and home of Blackbeard the Pirate. Washington is only 65 miles from the ferry to Ocracoke and the outer banks.

A visitor center in town can provide you with plenty of information to keep you busy.

Our Anchorage Room offers a King bed,extra pillows and one of the lovely original mantles with tiles,with a cozy sitting area and a table that can be used as a desk. It's newly remodeled bath has a tiled shower, robes,and a spa feel that guests love!

The Estuary room, a queen bedroom with original artwork, a desk and antique headboard is a favorite with guests. This room has one of the carved mantels with handmade green tiles and soothing yellows and blues. It offers a newly remodeled private bath.
