Casa da Pergola

Cascais, Portugal.

The Pergola House, which owes it name to the Mediterranean structure of solar protection found in the garden, has preserved its XIXth century mansion features. This and the neighboring house have been in Patricia's family since the early XXth century.

Bed and Breakfast Description

Cascais, bed and breakfast: Casa da Pergola

Today, the Pergola House still keeps it main characteristics. The decoration, a mixture of styles and furniture from different eras of classical style.

Most of the furniture had belonged to the family as gathered over a century. Black and white marble cover the floor and stairs, while the velvet reigns on the sofas. The wood floor is protected by Persian and Arraiolos tapestries and the walls display several oil paintings from famous painters.

Casais is the most cosmopolitan town in Portugal, but is still keeps the charm which has always characterized it and made it famous. Seaside resort for princes and harbor of refuge for fishermen, it still presents the beautiful buildings of the past that, since the end of the XIXth century, served as holiday retreats for the wealthiest bourgeoisie of Lisbon.

But one of the most elegant and photogenic building in Cascais is located at Avenida Valbom, near the train station and right in from of Santini, the celebrated ice-cream store. With it exuberant and flowery garden, people use to say that if for each picture tourists take from it, they leave one Euro, its owners would probably be the richest people of Cascais.

It is in this beautiful mansion, in Mediterranean style, that Patricia and Manuel Goncalves welcome you.
