![]() The Canal House Hotel is one of Amsterdam's best kept secrets, passed on from one visitor to another who return, time and time again, to enjoy the special warm friendly atmosphere. Brian and Mary have created this, a haven for the traveler, who appreciates fine taste, a real historical character, and a home away from home. The hotel is situated in a quiet, residential, old section of town, called the Jordaan. It's on a beautiful canal, the Keizersgracht, and is just a five minute gentle stroll from Dam Square, the very center of Amsterdam. Surrounded by many points of interest, such as the Anne Frank House and the Westerkirk, famous for its carillon and the place where Rembrandt is buried. The hotel makes a perfect base from which to explore the city. Area Attractions and Activities: A short tram ride from the hotel is Museumplein. Here you will find Rijksmuseum with its large collection of painting by Flemish and Ductch masters, including Rembrandt's Nightwatch. The van Gogh Museum and the Stedilijk Meuseum, featuring modern art, are next to each other just around the corner, and at the far end of the plein is the Concertgebowa, build in 1888, the great hall is famous for its near perfect acoustics. Here free concerts are performed every Wednesday at 12:30, (lunchtime). Services: Bar service, period antiques. Most Popular Rooms: People love to have the canal view rooms but our 3 largest rooms overlook the garden and also have a lot of charm. |
