Roundwood House

Mountrath, Ireland.

Beautiful Palladian villa surrounded by woods. A piece of warm and welcoming history. We aim to create a special place where personal attention and service comes naturally and life is taken at a relaxed pace.

Bed and Breakfast Description

Mountrath, bed and breakfast: Roundwood House

Our decision to open Roundwood as a guesthouse over 20 years ago was initially based on a desire to meet and interact with people and to fulfill a longstanding ambition to restore a house of great architectural merit.

The approach we have taken to all aspects of the accommodation and dining has been guided by our own personal experiences and, together with our staff, we endeavor to create a special place where personal service comes naturally, life is taken at a more relaxed pace and good food, wine and conversation abound.

Each of our ten bedrooms and three self-catering cottages have their own unique and interesting features, are filled with books and paintings and have beautiful views of the gardens.

Evening meals are prepared with great care and imagination, using ingredients that are always fresh.

There are eighteen acres of pasture, woodland and gardens, which are a delight to relax in, and many very interesting outbuildings which we hope to restore in the future. Roundwood offers the opportunity of going back in time to an era when leisure, grace and beauty symbolized the good life. Few places remain where this environment is still intact.

Our philosophy has always been to provide an informal, Irish atmosphere, where it is possible to meet and enjoy the company of other guests. We hope that you will have the chance to discover the many charms of Roundwood House and its surroundings for yourself.
