Bed and Breakfast Description

The Hemingway Inn is located in the historic and prestigious Amon district of San Jose, close to all the wonderful museums, souvenir shopping, great restaurants, the Simon Bolivar Zoo, banking and the nightlife circuit. Stroll the "Promenade" in the day and explore the colorful bars and restaurants at night.

Our Bed and Breakfast is about 45 minutes away from the Juan Santa Maria International Airport and is open 24 hours a day. We have different rooms for every need, we love families and allow pets when stated beforehand and with previous management approval.

One of the most photographed buildings in San Jose, the Hemingway is an original Spanish mansion built by a wealthy coffee plantation owner for his large family in the 1920's. Though the city has grown around it, it still retains it's classic Latin charm. In 1992, Prof. Jacques Hervot of the University of Costa Rica and a Hemingway fan turned it into the adorable bed and breakfast it is today.

After a day exploring bustling San Jose, you can relax and unwind in our Jacuzzi hot tub on the jungle patio, or go on line with our free computer and cable internet access.
