Area Attractions and Activities:

A visit to the Poas Volcano, less than 1 hour drive away, is unforgettable. Poas has been an active volcano since 1828 and last erupted in May 1989.

The Macaw farm, 'Flor de Mayo', only a 30 minute drive from Tropical Rest, is a wonder to behold. View hundreds of exotic, colorful Macaws and other tropical birds on this 20 acre internationally recognized bird sanctuary.

The world famous craft markets of Sarchi are only a 20 minute drive. Here you can see typical Costa Rican wood crafts being made and purchase wonderful gifts to take home.

With the openness of the house and 'cathedral' ceiling the gentle mountain breezes keep the house cool and comfortable. The Valley Room, with king sized bed overlooks the Central Valley and magnificent Guanacaste trees, national tree of Costa Rica.

The Mountain Room, with twin beds, overlooks the Poas mountain range.
