Hanna Penso is located in an 18th century canal-side property. Three ground-floor rooms, including a romantic garden house. Close to many major tourist attractions. Very attractive and quiet surroundings.

Bed and Breakfast Description

Logement Hanna Penso is named after Hanna Felix Penso, together with her husband, she was the first owner of the house. The present owners, Beatrijs Stemerding and her friend, had the house completely renovated in 2004. Beatrijs runs the lodging which is situated on the ground floor.

The Canal Room overlooks the Museum Hermitage Amsterdam. On a sunny day open the double doors of the room and do as the Dutch: sit on the ‘stoep’ (sidewalk) since there is so little traffic.

The Garden Room has its own terrace and overlooks the extensive garden. Situated at the rear end of the garden is the Garden house, also with its own terrace. If you stay for a minimum of a week, the Garden House can be equipped on request with a gas ring and a microwave.

All rooms and hallways are strictly non-smoking. All three rooms have a private shower, WC, kitchenette, TV and Internet connection.

Basic ingredients are available to prepare your own breakfast. If you want to go out, several nice breakfast places are close by. A few minutes away there is a shop open until 2:00. They sell delicious croissants as of 8:00 in the morning. Cafes and restaurants of all sorts and prices are near. All major museums can be reached by foot, bike or the museum boat.

The surroundings of Hanna Penso are quiet and attractive, with the river Amstel and the famous Skinny Bridge just around the corner.

Area Attractions and Activities:

There are seven museums close to the Hanna Penso, including the Van Gogh Museum. The Anne Frank House is also in Amsterdam. Cycling is very popular in Amsterdam, and bikes can be rented. The botanical garden and a well known zoo are also worth visiting, as is the Music Theater.

The Garden House has its own terrace, and is at the rear of the long garden. There is also a small kitchen which can be equipped with a gas ring and microwave for stays of a week or longer.
