    Area Attractions and Activities:

Bayeux has a ton to offer, with its perfectly preserved medieval ensemble, magnificent cathedral and world-famous tapestry, 23km west of Caen – a mere twenty minute train ride. It's a smaller and much more intimate city, and, despite the large crowds of summer tourists, a far more enjoyable place to visit.

Bayeux miraculously escaped much of the World War II bombings which is one reason why it is such an attractive town today. It's 15th - 19th century hub is simply delightful, particularly around rue St-Martin and rue St-Jean - the latter lined with boutiques, cafes and restaurants.

While in Bayeux other locations to visit might be:
    - The Cathedral
    - The Museum Baron Gerard
    - The Museum Memorial of the Battle of Normandy
    - The Memorial of General de Gaulle, and
    - a nearby beach, Mount St. Michael
