Villa Magdala
Bath, England, U.K..
Villa Magdala is peacefully located in a quiet residential area and overlooks Henrietta Park, one of Bath's most beautiful parks. It is only a 3 minutes level walk to the Roman Baths, city center, shops and restaurants.
Bed and Breakfast Description

The rooms are all large and well equipped and lead off of an intriguing and elegant hallway. We are one of only a few hotels in Bath which offer a car park for its guests on the grounds of the hotel. The Villa Magdala has received many awards.
Guests may relax in the comfortable lounge or read about the city and the many events taking place, before enjoying dinner at one of the many fine restaurants, just a short walk away. The resident proprietors, Roy and Lois Thwaites are happy to advise on dining options and activities.
In the mornings, a traditional English breakfast is served in the sunny dining room with its view into the park opposite.
Now a town house hotel, the Villa Magdala was built in 1868 during the Victorian era and named after the Battle of Maqdala fought in Abysinnia -now Ethiopia- in the same year.
Sent to secure the safe release of European travelers held at the court of the Emperor Tewedros, a British Expedition left for Abysinnia by sea in early 1868.
By the summer, with negotiations exhausted, the campaign culminated in the fall of the Emperor's fort at the citadel of Maqdala in the mountainous north-west of the country, and in the freeing of the captives.
Field Marshall Lord Robert Napier, who commanded the campaign, lived nearby in Henrietta Street as a boy. Accordingly, the house was named in his honor.
