Villennes sur Seine, bed and breakfast: Dormouse House

Dormouse House is a gorgeous wooden house surrounded by verandas, vegetable, & flower gardens. It offers total calm after a busy day out with the space, amenities, & luxury one could not find in Paris at any price.
The leafy village has been a favorite retreat of wealthy Parisians for the last century & the Yvelines are known as the 'lungs of Paris' due to its clean air & verdant nature; Louis XIV was born here & it is the home of Versailles, the Impressionists, Empress Eugenie (wife of Napoleon) & Dumas.
The House is filled with lovely antiques & exceptional art from all over the world, yet is designed for comfort. In the summer one can breakfast on the terrace & in the winter one can take tea by the fireplace. The winter garden (w/jacuzzi) is always an oasis. Lisa is a professional cook/baker & French teacher; cooking classes are available. Lovely 3 course dinners are offered in the charming dining room.
Guests are pampered with the best linens, towels, strong hot showers, terry robes, heated towel bars (winter), good reading lights & exceptionally comfortable beds & pillows - all the details that make a difference. Hot coffee and tea are offered as desired.
Children, when supervised, are very welcome, as are pets (request 1st, please.) Women can expect a sympathetic welcome & will feel safe. Small groups of up to 6 people can be accommodated; kindly ask for details. Secure parking is available.

Area Attractions and Activities:

There is too much to list!

Of course, we are at the doorstep of Paris with all the museums, sites, cathedrals, shopping, food, etc one could dream of, but we are also central to Versailles, Giverney (Monet's garden), Disneyland, many antique shops and fairs (such as the one at Chatou in Oct. and March), lots of recreational activities (golf, riding, boating, hiking, biking, etc) plus churches and villages to explore. Day trips are possible also to Chartres Cathedral, Rouen, the Normandy beaches and monuments, even Marseilles or Dijon(!) on the TGV with a rail pass.

Our guests choose to come here because they recognize that at Dormouse House they will have the absolute calm and comfort that will recharge them for a busy day in Paris...or at one of the many other places to explore in the area. They also appreciate the personal welcome by Lisa and Jack and our lovely 2 dogs, 2 cats, and hens! (Please see our reviews in Tripadvisor.com and/or at ibbp.com under int'l b&b pages)
