Bed and Breakfast Description

Named after its mountainside location and built in the 1980’s by one of the town’s most imaginative builders, The Heights is known for its intriguing, architectural touches. Wander through The Heights and be charmed by the little additions that make it unique.

Although the décor has been modernized and the guest accommodation upgraded to Quallmark 4 Star Plus luxury standard, the home’s cozy, cottage feel remains. The home is decorated with antiques and family heirlooms. In each guest room is guide to the house that tells about some of the more interesting pieces.

Te Moana guestroom features its own private entrance. There's a walk up a short flight of stairs, but its location at the highest point of the house is what makes the views so awesome. Also with private entrance, Te Koru guestroom has its own fireplace.

Each en-suite bath is appointed with thick, fluffy towels, terry cloth robes and luxury amenities. At night after a rewarding day of adventure, return home to find a turned-down bed, home-made cookies and a choice of hot chocolate, gourmet coffee or tea awaiting you -- little touches designed to make guests at home here.

Snuggle against the luxurious feel of fine linen in a king bed (king twin configuration available) or stretch out for a good read or TV/DVD viewing in the comfy conversation nook.

The Heights is surrounded by a half-acre of beautifully landscaped gardens, in a unique setting, where the town meets the farmland and bush.

Step out of Te Moana's French doors onto your own private deck and enjoy the sunset over sea. Inside the king bed with its fluffy duvet invites you to curl up with a good book while soft hues of robins egg blue and golden creams sooth your soul.

Just open this spring, Te Koru features its own fireplace, which makes it popular on chilly evenings. Te Koru looks out onto our park-like garden. Its patio is ideal for catching the morning sun.

Reservation Notes:

Cancellation policy: Due to having only two rooms available for guests, cancellations hit us hard. Therefore, please let us know as soon as possible. We require 72 hours notice for cancellations without penalty. Cancellations within 72 hours will be charged for the first night’s accommodation. We will not charge you if we are able to re-let the room.
