This splendid Italian liberty style hotel has retained a tradition of hospitality for well over a century.

The Marsicano family, who built the villa were renowned for their hospitality and would often invite the nobility of the time to sample the wonderful cuisine and local wines prepared by lady of the house. This tradition of hospitality was passed down through the years and eventually Villa Cheta was opened as a hotel for all to experience its luxurious surroundings.

In 1982 Villa Cheta was completely renovated by the Aquadro family retaining all the original features and family atmosphere of the Italian villa. Behind the building's rose and cream facade, the interior is lavishly decorated and adorned with art nouveau glass, chinz and lace. The furniture is all in keeping with the period.

The restaurant offers excellent fish and Lucanian dishes and guests can dine out on a beautiful terrace overlooking the sea.

Villa Cheta stands in a commanding position with panoramic views over the Mediterranean and pine clad mountains to the rear. The beach below the hotel, one of the many white, black, and rose colored sand beaches nearby, can be reached in just a few minutes.

Maratea has managed to hang onto its precious natural heritage and dual identity linked to the sea and mountains.

The port, an ancient center connecting Maratea and its hinterland with the rest of the world, offers a harbor for both old fishing boats and modern sailing vessels and is surrounded by a handful of multicolored houses.

The town, perched on the side of Monte S.Biagio, stretches out towards the sea under the red roofs embattled with chimney pots and grouped around the main church's white bell tower.

A visit to Pollino National Park, to immerse you in a wonderful, unspoilt, natural kingdom.The road that leads to Pollino Natiola park, which is about an hour away from Maratea, is an unforgettable experience.

Just behind Maratea is the town of Padula,where you can admire the magnificent Carthusian Monastery of S.Lorenzo, one of the most important yet least well known monuments in the south of Italy and the largest Carthusian monasteries in Europe.
