Bed and Breakfast Description

Pura Vida, meaning ¨pure life¨, is located on a private mountaintop estate in Costa Rica's Alajuela province surrounded by coffee plantations and lush foliage. The whole estate commands fantastic views of Irazú, Barva, and Poás volcanoes and of the central valley with the capital, San José.

We offer you a perfect balance of mind, body and spirit in an oasis of beauty, tranquility and home like intimacy. Pamper your body and soul whilst exploring the delights of Costa Rica, a country which is renowned for its beauty.

The staff at Pura Vida Yoga Retreat & Spa looks forward to being your host at our beautiful mountain resort in Costa Rica!

All services and halls are within short walking distance of tents and rooms. Additional bathrooms and showers are located throughout the resort for our guests' comfort. We have a beautiful gift shop on site that sells a few basic sundries.

Five halls are available for courses and yoga. In addition, we have lawn areas for outdoor meetings, our sunrises and sunsets are spectacular! On-site coordinators are available for special requests. Every hall is stocked with plenty of yoga mats, blocks, straps and blankets.

Our gardening crew is constantly maintaining and improving the grounds of this seven-acre property. Enjoy walking the paths and discovering the many secluded spaces. There are plenty of tranquil spots with hammocks, benches and grassy areas for meditation, reading or just hanging out.

Area Attractions and Activities:

Walk amidst enchanted gardens of heliconias and orchids. Become romanced by the fountains, pools, fruit and ornamental trees, colorful birds, and gentle butterflies. In this ¨Garden of Eden¨ the year round temperature is 70 to 80 degrees during the day with mild nights. Renew your deepest connections with life as you step into an oasis of beauty and tranquility.

The pool is the place to be after morning yoga and a scrumptious breakfast. Swim, read, chat with friends or just hang out in the tropical sun.

The Hot Tub under the stars with a view of the city lights in the valley below is a favorite spot of our guests.

The Boutique hosts an exquisite selection of crafts from Costa Rican artisans: wooden bowls, jewelry, pottery, clothing, famous Tico rocking chairs along with coffee, books and sundries.
The Guest lounge features a library of books, magazines, and board games, as well as a video selection.

Meditation Tower up above it all! A wonderful spot for meditating.

Most Popular Rooms:

In a class of its own, the Pagoda is your own private home with sunken living room, wonderful views, king-size bed, Jacuzzi bathtub, mini-fridge, outdoor deck, and a private enclosed "Bali style" outdoor shower. It is very popular with honeymooners.

The Zendo is a wraparound balcony and huge picture windows allow magnificent views all the time. It comes equipped with a king-size bed and coffee maker. In addition to all this, the Zendo has an outdoor shower which makes it a most special place to stay.
