DuPlooy’s Jungle Lodge is Belize's most unique eco retreat. Besides becoming a haven for birds and animals, duPlooy's has become a haven for people seeking time away from the stresses of modern life.

Bed and Breakfast Description

The duPlooy family arrived less than 20 years ago to start turning a cattle ranch and farm into a jungle preserve and lodge and eventually what has become the 45-acre Belize Botanic Garden - they didn't realize what a truly positive environmental impact they would have.

duPlooy's offers a variety of rooms to suit everyone. La Casita for example is a two room, two story house surrounded by beautiful jungle. Bungalows feature a king-sized bed with a double fold down futon for extra guests. The Jungle Lodge Rooms and Connecting Rooms are our original rooms set side by side in groups of three, where each room features two Queen beds.

The rooms have porches with hammocks, hot water, ceiling fans and screened windows. At certain times of year Belize gets very hot and there is no air conditioning at duPlooy's. While this is not a problem for most people, those planning to visit should take this into consideration before booking. Remember, you can always cool off on the beautiful Macal River Beach or enjoy a cool drink at the canopy bar!

Riding is available on the property. All inland tours of Belize are available also, but not included.

At duPlooy's you will want to spend a lot of time wandering about the property and Belize Botanic Gardens, watching birds and stars, swimming in or floating down the Macal River, relaxing on the porch or on the beach, enjoying a massage in the tree top therapy cabin, or just lying in a hammock. Now that's a vacation!

If looking for more action, let their expert guides show you Maya sites, caves, waterfalls, horse trails, or hiking. Return in the evening to duPlooy's deck for a cool drink and enjoy some of the freshest and most delicious food in Belize for your dinner.

Located within the Mennonite community of Spanish Lookout, Laguna Aguacate is a great birdwatchers' destination. Howler monkeys, tapir and crocs can be sighted here as well.

The main sites in the Pine Ridge area include Big Rock Falls for a steep hike, the Rio On Pools with cascading pools also a lookout point and picnic spot, the Rio Frio Cave best for claustrophobics, and the Thousand Foot Falls.

Most Popular Rooms:

Jungle Lodge Rooms are set side by side in groups of three, and are very spacious and comfortable. Each room has two queen-sized beds, private bath, and screened porch with hammock. Sleeps 2 - 4 very comfortably.

Bungalows are large private cottages with king-sized bed, futon, and private porch with hammock. Most comfortable for couples, but can sleep four people. A popular honeymoon choice.
