There are only three rooms, exuding old world charm, one of which is a suite. They have stunning views, private bathrooms, wood-burning fireplaces, embroidered sheets and superior duvets, antiques, fresh flowers, and complimentary artesian water. A full English-style breakfast is included. Hand-finished laundry is available at a nominal charge.

The two garden terraces are lush with flowers, and the upper terrace has a swimming pool with sweeping views of the Ourem Valley. Recently restored to its original ambiance, Casa Alta has recaptured its first purpose to provide an elegant, intimate oasis of peace and reflection for pilgrims and casual travelers alike. Candelight meals, gleaming silver, immaculate linens, and international cuisine make dining a memorable experience either indoors or in the garden.

Area Attractions and Activities:

Visit the world famous Fatima Shrine, museums, and houses of the seers. The last Knights Templar Castle is in nearby Tomar. In the region are interesting castles, the quaint walled town and Castle of Obidos, the charming fishing village and beach at Nazaré, the magnificent Royal Batalha Abbey, Alcobaca Monastery, the medieval university town of Coimbra, an extensive escavation of Roman ruins, and an elaborate royal hunting lodge in the forest of Bussaco featuring specimen trees from all over the world brought there by the voyages of dicovery in the 16th century. Casa Alta, itself, is located within the ramparts of the ruined Ourem Castle and was considered for hundreds of years as the gem in the crown of Portuguese castles.
