Old Saint Mary's Convent offers luxury bed and breakfast accommodation. Relax and unwind in a magnificent, fully restored, historic home, right in the heart of New Zealand's Marlborough wine region. The Convent is one of the South Island's finest B&B's. Set on a stunning 60 acres of vineyards and gardens, the Convent is only minutes from some of New Zealand's finest vineyards and wineries.

The Chapel Honeymoon/Executive Suite is the size of a small apartment. It epitomizes luxury with casual elegance. The large en suite bathroom features a two-person claw bath, walk-in shower, double basins and superior toiletries.

Each of the five rooms has spectacular views of the surrounding hills, vineyards and/or gardens. All have their own en suite with bath and separate shower. The rooms are very spacious and airy with easy access to the balcony. All rooms have A/C, flat screen TV's, Sky TV and high speed wireless internet access.

Essential modern conveniences, like fire protection sprinklers and a sophisticated heating and air conditioning system, are cleverly hidden behind the old ceilings, Rimu paneling and timbered floors.

Continental or cooked breakfast is served in the cosy dining room. The library, with its ornate Kauri fireplace and separate guest lounge, is for the exclusive use of guests. The daily tariff for two people, includes breakfast and taxes on a per night basis.

Area Attractions and Activities:

Spring Creek, with its abundant bird life and trout, meanders lazily through the property. It is here, beneath Marlborough's azure sky, that one may spend a pleasant afternoon sipping local vintages and sampling the provincial gourmet fare.

Apart from the famous wine trails, you can walk the Queen Charlotte Walkway, go hunting or fishing, watch whales, play golf, see the local arts and crafts, eat mussels, or enjoy an afternoon relaxing on our deck. Take a scenic helicopter or float plane flight or take a cruise on the magnificent Marlborough Sounds.

Or you may wish to try other activities such as horse trekking, scenic walks and white water rafting. Several excellent golf courses may be found in close proximity to the Convent.

Marlborough has many superb restaurants providing a wide variety of cuisine, while lunches and evening meals are also served at a number of the local wineries.

Most Popular Rooms:

Our Chapel/Honeymoon Suite is in the old Convent Chapel. The size of a small apartment, it features old stained glass windows, beautiful romantic interior design, its own balcony and a stunning bathroom. On arrival bottle of Marlborough bubbly awaits you.

Our Mother Superior's Room is a spacious double room with a king bed and an en suite bathroom with a pedestal 2 person bath. The old character is retained while all modern facilities are there. Easy access to the balcony with all day sunshine.

Reservation Notes:

The room charge is for two persons' occupancy and includes a complimentary glass of wine before dinner and a delicious breakfast. Tea and coffee are served at all times. All bathrooms have toiletries, hair dryers and robes. All rooms are fully air-conditioned with Sky TV and high speed wireless internet connection. Our single room rate is $NZ 350 (not available for the Chapel Suite and Mother Superior suite). Our guests have the exclusive use of our library and guest lounge. Complimentary bicycles are available for your vineyard tour. Our Cancellation Policy: ------------------------ We charge 25% of total charge if a reservation is canceled within the last 30 days prior to arrival date. We charge 100% of total charge of expected stay with us if a reservation cancellation is made in the last 7 days prior to arrival.
