Ingredients: 2 cubes butter 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 3/4 cup sugar 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 2-1/2 cups flour 1/3 cup slivered almonds 1/2 teaspoon salt Filling - see below Instructions: Combine butter and sugar, flour, salt and baking powder. Cut with pastry blender until crumbly. Press mixture into 9x12 baking dish. Bake 15 minutes at 350 degrees. While crust is baking prepare filling: Mix 1 cup sour cream with 2 egg yolks, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Peel and cut 3-4 large pears into slices. Arrange slices on top of baked crust. pour the sour cream mixture over the pears. Sprinkle with silvered almonds and bake 30-40 minutes at 350 degrees (until custard is set). Cool slightly before cutting. Serves 10-12 people. |
