"One of our most requested recipes, from our friend Mary March, proprietor of "Whiskers," the shop across Ocean Street which features cats and rabbits.
We first tasted these brownies when Mary and her husband, Bill, brought some one evening to share with us for dinner. They were the most delicious brownies we had ever tasted. We confess to having taken a few liberties with the recipe since then. One day we were out of plain chocolate chips, and substituted mint flavored chocolate chips, with scrumptious results."
Combine butter, sugar and water in a 4 cup measuring cup and melt and mix in microwave. Add 1 1/2 cups (plain) chocolate chips and vanilla until melted. Transfer to mixer bowl.
