Ingredients:
4 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 cup shortening
1 Tbsp yeast
1/4 cup lukewarm water
1 egg
2 egg yolks
1 cup sour cream
1 tsp vanilla

Instructions:
Put flour and salt in a large bowl. Cut in the shortening. Soak yeast in water. Beat egg and egg yolks together and mix in sour cream, yeast mixture and vanilla. Stir into flour and shortening and mix well. Cover and let rise in fridge for 2 hours.

Lightly sprinkle sugar on pastry board. Place dough on board, sprinkle sugar on it and roll it out to a 12 inch square. Fold dough into centre from each side. Roll out again to 12" square and fold again. Do this 4 times, using sugar each time and ending up rolling to 12 inch square. Cut into strips 3/4 inch wide and 4 inches long. Sprinkle each piece with sugar and twist 3 or 4 times. Place on cookie sheet several inches apart. Bake 350 degrees F about 20 minutes or until light brown.
