Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients:
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1/3 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1 Tbsp grated orange zest
2/3 cup orange juice
4 large eggs, beaten well
8 thick slices of stale French bread

Instructions:
Melt butter in rectangular glass baking dish in microwave. Combine sugar, cinnamon and orange zest and sprinkle evenly over the melted butter. Whisk together orange juice and beaten eggs. Dip bread slices in orange juice/egg mixture and arrange in a single layer in baking dish. Pour remainder of orange juice/egg mixture evenly over bread slices. Refrigerate overnight.

Next morning, take dish out of refrigerator approximately 30 mins. before baking. Bake at 325 degrees until slightly browned, approximately 25 mins. Remove from pan and turn upside down on plate. Garnish with powdered sugar and orange slice. Serve with bacon strips and warm orange syrup.

Orange Syrup: 1 part orange juice to 3 parts white Karo syrup. Blend well and warm in microwave.
