Cinnamon Mornings and Chocolate Dreams

Yield: 2 dozen 

Ingredients:
1/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 whole egg
2 eggs, separated
1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup nuts, chopped
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate pieces
1 cup miniature marshmallows
2 egg whites
1 cup light brown sugar, packed

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350. Cream shortening, butter, and sugar. Beat in the whole egg and two egg yolks. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together; combine the two mixtures and blend thoroughly. Spread batter in a greased 9" X 13" pan. Sprinkle nuts, chocolate pieces and marshmallows over the batter. Beat 2 egg whites stiff; fold in brown sugar. Spread over top of cake. Bake 35 minutes. Cool and then cut into bars.
