Ingredients: 2 cups all purpose flour 2 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp salt 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese 1/2 cup shortening 1 cup buttermilk Instructions: In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Cut in cheese and shortening until crumbly. Add buttermilk; stir just until moistened. Turn onto a lightly floured surface, knead 8-10 times. roll out to 1/2 inch thickness; cut with a 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter. Place on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 435 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Yield 16 biscuits. *Great with Cowboy Fritta after a morning trail ride! |
