Ingredients:
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup soft shortening
1 egg
1/2 cup orange juice
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups fresh or frozen combined blueberries and cranberries

Topping:
1/3 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup soft butter
1 teaspoon orange zest
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 - 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions:
Makes 1 9" square pan

Served right from the oven, this luscious old-time treat combines the berries native to the Cape with walnut and orange in a sweet crumbly topping. It can be made just with blueberries, but the cranberries add a nice Cape Cod tang.

Preheat over to 350 degrees. Mix together thoroughly the 3/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup shortening, and egg. Stir in orange juice. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt together and stir into sugar mixture. Rinse the berries, dredge with flour, and fold into the batter. Spoon into 9" square pan.

Mix together topping ingredients and sprinkle over the top. Bake for 45-50 minutes. Serve warm. Yum!
