Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients:
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 tablespoons light corn syrup
1 Loaf French bread, cut into 3/4 inch slices (2 per person)
5 Eggs
1 1/2 cups milk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Cinnamon sugar

Instructions:
In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, mix and melt brown sugar, butter and corn syrup. Meanwhile, spray a 9x13 baking dish with nonstick vegetable oil. Pour the butter and sugar mixture into the baking dish, (warm baking dish as caramel mixture congeals fast). Arrange bread slices in baking dish.

Whisk eggs with milk and vanilla. Pour egg mixture over bread slices, not missing any areas and using all the mixture. The bread slices will absorb the excess. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar over bread slices.

Cover the baking dish and refrigerate overnight. The next morning preheat oven to 350 degrees. Uncover the baking dish and bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Serve directly from the baking dish, inverting the slices onto plates. Powder with "powdered sugar". Serves 8.

Comments:
This is sweet enough, and needs no syrup. Serve with breakfast meat and fresh fruits.
