Ingredients:
1 large loaf crusty Italian Bread, torn in bite size pieces
8 large eggs, beaten
2-1/2 cups milk
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
6 tablespoons butter, melted

Stuffing:
12 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons heavy cream
1 large egg
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions:
Spray a 13"X9" casserole with butter spray. Cover the bottom with a half loaf of torn bread pieces.

Beat together stuffing ingredients until smooth. Spoon stuffing mixture evenly over top of first layer of bread. Spread a bit with a rubber spatula just to even it out. Place remaining half loaf of torn bread pieces over top of stuffing, evenly covering all of the cream cheese. Press down with spatula gently (don't flatten it). Beat eggs well. Add milk and syrup, mixing well.

Immediately pour milk and egg mixture evenly over bread. Press down again, gently, to make sure all is moistened. Pour melted butter evenly over top. Cover securely and refrigerate over night.

In the morning, uncover and bake in a 325 degree oven 40 minutes, until golden brown on top. Remove from oven and let stand (rest) 5-10 minutes before slicing. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve with maple syrup and seasonal fruit on the side!
