Ingredients: 1 loaf cinnamon/raisin bread 1 8oz. package cream cheese 2 eggs 1 1/2 cup milk Fruit Syrup Topping: 1 can cherry or blueberry pie filling 1/2 cup pancake syrup 2-3 Tablespoons Grand Mariner liqueur Instructions: Allow cream cheese to soften at room temperature. Spread a liberal amount of cream cheese between two slices of bread, making a "sandwich". Cut the "sandwich" in half diagonally. Do the same with the rest of the loaf of bread. I use about 7 to 8 ounces of cream cheese to a loaf of bread. Prepare egg/milk mixture by whipping the eggs, then add milk. Dip cream cheese-filled bread into egg/milk mixture then fry on both sides until browned. Serve with either cherry or blueberry topping. This is also excellent served with maple syrup. Notes: This often-requested recipe is absolutely the best French toast we've ever had - and so simple. Be sure to use Grand Mariner Liqueur in the topping. |
