Cinnamon Mornings and Chocolate Dreams

Ingredients:
Vinegar pastry
Strawberry jam
Chopped dried fruit
Cinnamon
Sugar
Egg
Confectioner’s Sugar


Instructions:
Roll out vinegar pastry into rectangular shape - see recipe below. Spread strawberry jam down middle of pastry, about 2 inches wide. Spread chopped fruit - dark and light raisins, dried apricots and dates on top of jam. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Close up pastry.

Turn the stuffed monkey over. Brush with egg. Indent with knife at regular intervals. Sprinkle with sugar.

Bake on flat, ungreased baking tray at 375°F for about 20 – 25 minutes. Don’t let them get too dark.

When baked, cut up into strips. Sprinkle with confectioner’s sugar.

Vinegar Pastry:

1 pound all purpose flour
3 sticks margarine (I use Fleischmann’s)
2 tablespoons malt vinegar
3 tablespoons cold water
2 egg yolks
3 tablespoons sugar

Mix all ingredients together. Put in refrigerator overnight.
