Cinnamon Mornings and Chocolate Dreams

Ingredients:
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
Cream and beat in:
2 jumbo eggs
2 tablespoons cocoa
2 ounce red food coloring, make a paste and add to mixture*
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup buttermilk, mix and add alternately with
2 1/2 cups + 1 tablespoon cake flour
1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1 tablespoon white or cider vinegar, mix and fold in but do not beat

Frosting:
5 tablespoons flour
1 cup milk
Bring to boil in heavy pan. Stir constantly or you'll have to start over! Cool.
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
Beat together and then beat into the white sauce.

Instructions:
2 9" inch pans, greased and floured
Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.



Notes:
*Note: I use 1 ounce color and 1 ounce water and it is still very red.
