Cook Time: 1 hrPrep Time: 15 hr
Yield: 6 servingsInactive Prep Time: 15 hr

Ingredients:
6-8 large potatos such as Yukon Gold or red
1/2 stick butter
1/2 c heavy cream
1 1/2 c milk
salt, pepper, and fresh nutmeg to taste
1 c freshly grated Parmesan cheese, or half Parmesan, half Romano
3 large cloves garlic
fresh herbs as avail: thyme, parsley, chervil, chives, approx. 1-2 T finely chopped

Instructions:
with the slicing blade of a food processor or with a mandoline, thinly slice the peeled potatos.
Place in a buttered pyrex or other shallow baking dish.
Heat the milk, cream, and 1/2 c butter in the micro until butter is melted. Press garlic into this mixture along with the salt, pepper (pref. white), nutmeg, and herbs. Pour over potatos. Sprinkle top with the Parmesan. Bake about 1 hr in a hot oven until brown (400 degrees)

Notes:
This may be made richer by increasing the cream or using cream and half and half. Excellent with roast meats and game.
