Ingredients: 1/3 cup shortening 1/2 cup sugar 1 egg 1 1/2 cup sifted flour 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 1/2 cup milk Instructions: Mix shortening, sugar, and egg thoroughly. Sift together dry ingredients. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk to the shortening mixture. Fill greased muffin tins 3/4 full and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Brush tops with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Serve warm with a little jam if desired. |
