Cinnamon Mornings and Chocolate Dreams

Ingredients: Peasant bread or French bread. 8 eggs 3 1/2 cups milk 3/4 cups sugar 1 Tablespoon vanilla extract 3 teaspoons cinnamon 1 teaspoon nutmeg 6-8 apples, peeled, cored and sliced 1 Tablespoon butter Instructions: Cut bread into 1 1/2" slices. Place in greased 9x13" casserole, fitting tightly together. Beat together eggs, 1/2 cup sugar, milk and vanilla. Pour 1/2 of this mixture over the bread. Arrange apple slices on top. Pour remaining egg mixture over the apples. Mix remaining sugar with cinnamon and nutmeg and sprinkle over the top. Dot with butter. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Preheat oven to 350. uncover dish and bake for 1 hour. It will rise high and look beautiful. Serve with syrup. |
