Ingredients: Sift together 2-cup flour, 4 tsp. baking powder and 1 tsp. salt. Cut in 4 tbsp. shortening with the side of a spoon. Beat 1 egg and 2/3 cup milk and add to dry ingredients. Divide dough into two parts. Roll out one part 1/4" thick on floured board, spread 1/2 lb. whole-hog sausage raw on top; roll up jelly roll style lengthwise and cut into 1/2" slices. Place slices on ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. Do the other half. These freeze well and if frozen, thaw completely and when ready to serve, heat for a few minutes at 450 degrees. Instructions: |
