Ingredients:
8 pounds squash (butter or butternut)
2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
1 cup better or margarine
(2 sticks),melted
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons salt (optional)
2 teaspoons mace
8 baking apples, cored and cut into
1/2-inch slices

Instructions:
Halve each squash; remove the seeds and fibers. Pare the squash. Cut into 1/2-inch slices. Mix together the brown sugar. butter, flour, salt, and mace. Arrange the squash in ungreased, oblong baking dishes, 12X7X2-inches; top with apple slices, Sprinkle the sugar mixture over the top. Cover and bake in a 350 degrees oven until the squash is tender, about 50 to 60 minutes.
Serves 24

Notes:
You may uncover the last 15 minutes and add marshmallows and halved walnuts on top until brown.
