Ingredients: 8 eggs 4 cups milk 2 Tbsp vanilla 3-4 large green apples 1/2 cup butter 1/2 cup brown sugar 1 Tbsp water 6-12 slices bread-plain white, wheat, french, sourdough, or your favorite Instructions: 1. Melt butter and add sugar and water. Slice apples (skin on) and simmer in butter mixture for 1-2 minutes. 2. Pour in bottom of 13x9 inch pan and let cool. 3. Beat together eggs, milk, and vanilla. 4. Slice bread in halves and layer over apples to cover whole dish. 5. Pour egg mixture over all. Be sure all bread is wet. Sprinkle with cinnamon. 6. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes or until golden brown and puffy. *May be made the night before and baked in the morning... |
