Cinnamon Mornings and Chocolate Dreams

Yield: 4 servings 

Ingredients:
3 eggs
¼ cup half and half
½ cup whole milk
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla
½ teaspoon orange extract
2 tablespoon Grand Marnier
2 teaspoons cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
¼ teaspoon ground cloves
8 slices raisin bread
4 orange slices
powdered sugar
oil
butter

Instructions:
Mix together the first 11 ingredients. Heat a large skillet or griddle pan, and drizzle with one teaspoon oil and one teaspoon butter. Dip the bread, both sides, in the egg mixture, and place on the griddle. Cook until golden, then turn. When both sides are done, place two slices overlapping on each plate. Add one tablespoon Mascarpone cheese filling to each slice, sprinkle with powdered sugar, and garnish with orange slices. Serve with orange maple syrup.

Mascarpone Cheese Filling

1 pound container of Mascarpone cheese
the zest of one orange
juice of one orange
3 tablespoons powdered sugar
1 tablespoon Grand Marnier

Mix all four ingredients together until smooth. Leftover cheese mixture may be stored in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Orange Maple Syrup

2 cups of orange juice
½ cup maple syrup

Heat the orange juice in a small pot to a simmer. Continue to simmer until reduced to ½ cup. Let cool. Add the maple syrup and blend well.
