Cinnamon Mornings and Chocolate Dreams

Yield: 4 servings 

Ingredients:
4 eggs
2/3 cup orange juice
1/3 cup milk
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 loaf (8 oz.) Italian bread cut in 1" slices
1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted
1/2 cup pecan pieces
Grated orange peel to taste

Instructions:
Whisk together eggs, orange juice, milk, sugar, nutmeg, and vanilla. Place bread in single layer in large, flat dish. Pour milk mixture over bread, turn once, cover and refrigerate overnight.

To cook, preheat oven to 400. Pour melted butter in jellyroll pan, evenly. Arrange soaked bread slices in a single layer in pan. Sprinkle evenly with orange peel and pecans. Bake until golden, 20-25 minutes. Check slices during last 10 minutes to avoid burning. Serve with maple syrup, butter, or fresh fruit.
