Cinnamon Mornings and Chocolate Dreams

Whether you're hosting a formal get-together or need a quick brunch idea, this book will spark your imagination and your appetite.

Yield: 16 servings 

Ingredients:
Preheat oven to 350º.

A 9x12-inch pan will be needed (glass is preferable).

Mix in large bowl:
2 1/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup white sugar
3/4 cup salad oil

Remove 3/4 cup of the above mixture to small bowl and add:
1/2 cups chopped walnuts
1 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

To large bowl, add:
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 egg
1 cup buttermilk

Instructions:
Mix well and spread into pan.
Sprinkle nut mix over batter and press in gently.
Bake 25 to 30 minutes. Test with toothpick. Watch for burned bottoms.

Variations: Cherry or Blueberry (Yummy!)

Spread batter in large greased cookie tin. Sprinkle with 1 can drained canned sour cherries (pitted) or blueberries evenly over batter.
To the separated crumb mix, add 3/4 cup nuts, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup margarine and mix until butter is kidney bean size. Sprinkle over fruit and bake 20 or more minutes.
