Cinnamon Mornings and Chocolate Dreams

Yield: 9 servings 

Ingredients:
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup Sherry wine
1 1/2 cups hot water
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/3 cup butter
1 cup chopped dates
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup milk

Instructions:
Combine first 4 ingredients in saucepan and bring to a boil. Simmer 3 minutes. Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in butter. Mix in dates and nuts. Add milk and mix well. Spread evenly in a greased 9" pan. Pour hot Sherry mixture on the top. Bake in 375 degree oven for 50 minutes. Serve warm and with whipped cream if desired.
