Ingredients: Sift:
4 cups sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
6 tablespoons cocoa
6 cups sifted flour
4 1/2 teaspoons soda
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
Add:
1 1/2 cups shortening
6 unbeaten eggs
48 ounces applesauce
Top With:
4 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 cup chopped nuts
OR, omit nuts and sugar and sprinkle with 6 ounces chocolate chips
Instructions: Combine dry and wet ingredients. Beat.
Pour batter into two greased 12-cup tube pans.
Sprinkle with nut and sugar topping, or for a dessert cake, sprinkle with 6 ounces chocolate chips.
Bake at 350º for 60 minutes or until done.
