Ingredients: At the inn, we get rave reviews when we serve this topping over Belgian waffles or French toast made with Challah bread. Gabriel's Pear Streusel Topper 1/2 cup butter 1 tablespoon lemon juice 4 pears, peeled, cored, and sliced 1/3 cup brown sugar 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg 1/8 teaspoon ginger 1/4 cup pecans, chopped Instructions: 1. Melt butter in a large saute pan 2. Sprinkle lemon juice over pears, then stir into melted butter. 3. Add brown sugar, spices, walnuts. 4. Cook slowly over low heat, stirring occasionally, until pears are somewhat softened, about 5 minutes. 5. Serve over a Belgian waffle, or draped down the center of 2-3 pieces of French toast. 6. Plate with crisp lean bacon and a festive fanned strawberry. |
