Ingredients: 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon dried ginger 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon cloves 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg 1 teaspoon cocoa powder 8 tablespoons Straus Butter, softened 3/4 cup molasses 2 teaspoons freshly grated ginger 3/4 cup sugar 1 cup Straus Yogurt 1 egg Instructions: A recipe from The Straus Family Creamery Marshall, California Sift flour together with baking soda, salt, dried ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and cocoa. In a separate bowl beat butter, molasses, fresh ginger, sugar, yogurt and egg. Add sifted dry ingredients slowly to the batter. Mix lightly. Pour batter into a buttered baking pan (8X8) that has been lightly dusted with flour. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for about 40 minutes or until edges have pulled away from the sides and the top is firm to the touch. |
