Apple Crisp

Butter a 9x9 or 9x13 pan. Fill with a variety of sliced, peeled apples Sprinkle heavily with a mixture of sugar, cinnamon and a pinch of salt. Sprinkle from 2 to 4 tablespoons of water over all. With your hands, mix 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar and a stick of margarine or butter until crumbly for a 9x13 pan. For a 9x9 pan use about 3/4 of each. Spread over apples and bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes. Serve hot with whipped cream or at room temperature.

This recipe is very forgiving and can be cooked longer at a lower temperature if you have something else in oven and will hold very will in oven if guests are late coming to breakfast.
